Press Association) WELLINGTON, March 30. New Zealand was approaching the new licensing period with a better level of stocks than in the previous > ear, Mr Shelton said. At the end of December stocks of materials were up 11 per cent compared with stocks at the end of December. 1964. while in the case of finished goods stocks were 12.8 per cent higher. Mr Shelton said these figures, supplied by the
Government Statistician, also showed that for the quarter ending December, 1965, retail stocks were 10.1 per cent higher than for the comparable quarter in 1964.
Similarly, the value of wholesale stocks at at the end of December, 1965, was over-all 3.1 per cent higher than December 31, 1964, with the automotive (33.3 per cent), furniture (22.3 per cent), machinery (20.3 per cent), and chemical (17.6 per cent) groups showing the largest increases.
