R. And G. Rise Sharply On Don’t Sell Warning
Ross and Glendining advanced sharply after yesterday’s don’t sell warning to close Is 3d up at 8s 6d in Christchurch with Wellington sales at 10s. Closing quotes in Auckland were 10s buy, 14s sell.
Generally the market for New Zealand issues was firm again yesterday. British Office Supplies rose 6d more to 21s, Bell rose 9d to 24s 9d, N.Z. Forest Products rose a further 8d to 23s 6d and New Zealand Refining recovered 5d more to 36s lid in Auckland sales. Dominion Finance rose 6d to 9s 3d, while Beath jumped 7d to Bs.
Overseas issues were in balance. B.H.P. rose 3d more to 44s 9d and Mount Isa 3d to 365. A.C.I. lost 6d to 48s 6d and Colonial Sugar 3d to 25s 6d. G. J. Coles slipped 2d more to 10s 7d.
