BOEING 707
(N.Z P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) SEATTLE (Washing-
ton), March 30.
The Boeing Aircraft Company said yesterday it had notified customers to inspect the tail section of its 707 jet liners.
The company added that the notification did not necessarily pertain to the 8.0.A.C. crash near Mount Fuji, Japan, on March 5.
A Boeing spokesman said the notification was contained in the firm’s service bulletin and asked all customers to inspect the vertical fitting of the tail, the section where the tail joins the fuselage. He said that in viewing the wreckage of the Mount Fuji crash cracks were noted in the tail section.
“A couple of other customers have noted the same thing," he said.
