The Christchurch-Lyttelton Road Tunnel Authority yesterday congratulated Mr P. J. Beaven on his gaining the gold medal of the New Zealand Institute of Architects for designing the authority’s administration building at Heathcote. Dr. D. B. Macleod, a former associate professor in the physics department of the University of Canterbury, has been elected a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science in recognition of his outstanding achievement in science. He has been retired for 13 years.
