Escape For Driver

AUCKLAND, March 27.
The driver of a light van escaped from his stalled vehicle just before it was struck by the Auckland-bound limited express at the Te Kumi level crossing, a mile north of Te Kuiti at 5.30 this morning. The van, which was extensively damaged, was thrown down a bank by the impact. The driver was Mr E Rogers of Te Kuiti.
The express was delayed about 15 minutes, arriving at Auckland at 9.5 a.m.
