LONDON, March 25.
A hoard of 1000 gold coins found on a building site near Newstead Abbey, Nottinghamshire, were yesterday valued at £30,000, “The Times” reported. The discovery of the coins, from the twelfth, thirteenth and fourteenth centuries, is believed to be the largest of its kind since a similar hoard was unearthed in Kent in 1939. The coins were turned up yesterday along with some trinkets by an excavating machine.
