Post Office Retirements
The Director-General of Posts and Telegraphs (Mr J. Darnell) was in Christchurch yesterday to bid farewell to the retiring Chief Postmaster (Mr J. W. Lincoln). Mr Darnell returned to Wellington test night to say farewell to the Director of Finance and Savings Banks (Mr H. W. Hay). Next week he will take part in farewell functions for the Chief Postmasters of Auckland and Wellington. Next Thursday it will be Mr Darnell's turn to be bidden farewell—by the Post-master-General (Mr Scott). Mr Darnell said yesterday that Mr A. Lamont, of Wellington, would be Acting Chief Postmaster in Christchurch until the permanent appointee (Mr J. Wilson) took up duties on or about April 26. I
