‘Must Try Again’
<W.Z. Press Association) INVERCARGILL, Mar. 23. After a recruiting campaign last November, 26 were added to the prisons service staff between November 10 and March 1, and nine more were expected to begin duty before the end of March. In the same period 29 basic grade officers left the service, the Minister of Justice (Mr Hanan) said today.
“We must try again and another campaign will be necessary this year,” the Minister said. “In addition there are proposals for a cadet scheme with the State Services Commission which 1 am hopeful will be the means of attracting to the service school leavers who will be ready, after a two-year training period, for practical training in institutions,” he said.
