The (ommunist Party of New Zealand has declined an invitation to send a delegate to the 23rd congress of the Communist Party of the Soviet Lnion, which will open in Moscow on Tuesday.
In a cabled message, the general secretary, Mr V. G. Wilcox, said there were outstanding ideological differences between both parties and between the leadership of the Soviet Party and a number of other parties adhering to the principles of Marxist-Leninism and opposing modern revisionism.
Mr Wilcox said the attendance would serve no useful purpose and would be mutually embarrassing.
