CHILDREN’S HOMES

“Need Even Greater”

Never before had so much money been raised in a 12month period, but never before had the need been so great, said the chairman of the Christchurch Children’s Homes Combined Appeal Trust Board (the Rev. J. S. Vincent) in his annual report to the board.

During the year the board raised £B7BB, but whereas a year ago it was caring for 367 chi'dren, it was now responsible for 622. Apart from the two usual collections in the city and surroundings and the annual appeal to businessmen, grants had been received from various trusts. The J. R. McKenzie Trust increased its gift from £llOO to £l5OO, and the Canterbury Savings Bank doubled its grant to £lOO. Three other trusts gave a total of £ll5.
