FIVE HURT
Three Admitted
To Hospital
Five persons, three of them elderly, were taken to the Christchurch Hospital in two St. John ambulances after two cars collided at the intersection of Avonside drive and Wainoni road at 10.30 p.m. yesterday. Mrs Margaret Pearl McConachie, aged about 70, of 645 Gloucester street, and Mrs Doris Whiteside, also aged about 70, of 15 Ascot avenue,; suffered cuts to the head, and Mrs Whiteside also suffered a bad cut on a leg. Both were admitted to hospital. Mr R. McConachie, aged 69, suffered cuts to the head, and shock and was treated and sent home. Car] Ball, of Cridland street. Kaiapoi, suffered fairly severe cuts to the head, and was admitted and David Nelson Wright, aged about 20, of 23 Cass street, Kaiapoi, suffered shock and bruises. He was treated and discharged.
Both cars were extensively damaged.
