University Buildings
Sir,—Surely Dr. Pownall was joking when he told the University Association: “1 also feel some personal relief at seeing the engineering library and new lecture rooms being built. They will relieve the effect of that whimsical mushroom lecture theatre set against the factory-like frontage of the engineering school.” These additions are the biggest botch perpetrated at Ilam. The mushroom theatre may not be architecturally inspired but the fine sweep of lawns did set off honest-to-goodness buildings. Now that frontage is a mess. —Yours, etc., USE YOUR NUT. March 23, 1966.
