Shot Put Record Broken By 2 ft. In Girls’ Heats
Miss B. Poulsen (Avonside G.H.S.) set a new best performance in the senior shot put at the elimination contest for the Christchurch inter-secondary schoolgirls’ sports at Rugby Park yesterday with a put of 40ft 4}in.
This was more than two feet beyond her own best distance of 38ft Olin, set last year. Miss S. A. Flynn (Villa Maria) also broke the best distance, with a put of 38ft 4jin. Miss J. Horton (Avonside) threw the senior discus 101 ft 4in, 2ft 3in shorter than the record.
