Butter Falls

(New Zealand Press Association)

WELLINGTON. March 22.

The chairman of the New Zealand Dairy Board (Sir Andrew Linton) said today he sawreason to hope that the ex-store price of New Zealand butter in the United Kingdom could be held at 300 s. The price was reduced yesterday by 3s per cwt to 300 s.

Sir Andrew Linton said that the market was still going through a process of readjustment after the larger price falls in the middle of February.

He said he would not expect the latest adjustment to affect the retail price level of New Zealand butter in the United Kingdom, but that the off-take at the wholesale level should improve and assist the board to achieve a balanced stock position.

The Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) tonight had no comment to make on the new fall in price.
