FINE EFFORT.—The Canterbury representative, D. C. Leary who finished third in the New Zealand javelin championship at Rugby Park earlier this month. His best throw was 204ft 9in. Leary was also third in the Canterbury championship a fortnight earlier but the two who beat him, D. Whightman and M. G. Stewart, were unable to match him in the more important national championship.
