Theft On Train
The south express and, consequently, the inter-island steamer express, were delayed last evening while detectives made inquiries at the Christchurch railway station into the theft of two suitcases of clothing, valued at £5O. The suitcases belong to two women passengers on the train, both bound for the North Island. The theft was reported when the train arrived at Christchurch. A man on the inter-island steamer express was arrested on a charge of theft of a radio. He was taken from the I ship and will appear in the I Magistrate’s Court today.
