JUMPING SHOW
Opening Day At Christchurch South Canterbury-North Otago won the Wilson-Innes trophy for South Island teams jumping on the first day of the Canterbury area jumping show being held at the Agricultural and Pastoral Show Grounds. Only three teams entered for the competition and the combined team which had only one-quarter fault won from Canterbury, which had four faults. Dressage and combined training events were completed and the jumping events saw South Island riders competing for their horse of the year trophy and the Wilson-Innes teams cup. Four horses were clear over the table A first round of the South Island horse of the year competition for the Butler trophy, but the puissance second round presented more difficulties and Limelight with three faults won from Hi-Fi with seven faults. The show will continue today and tomorrow and the appearance of teams from Australia, Japan and the North Island will provide interest for spectators. Baxter, 1; Midshipman. Miss C. Meares, 2: Turaparangi. Miss C. Meares. 3. Dressage Open. Harvest Moon, Mrs D. Bain. 1; Blue Smoke, Mrs E. G. Rutherford. 2.
