Mr C. F. S. Caldwell, headmaster of the Christchurch Boys’ High School, will attend a course for secondary school principals at Lopdell House, Auckland, next week. Mr Thomas Brian Mooney, an Alexandra barrister and solicitor, has been appointed a Stipendiary Magistrate. Mr A. F. Sherson (“Bay of Plenty Times”), and Mr E. G. Kerr (“Timaru Herald’’), were elected directors of the New Zealand Press Association at the annual meeting. They replace Mr P. V. Harkness and Mr D. F. C. Saxton, who retire by rotation. Mr G. Bums has been elected chairman of the board of directors for the ensuing year.—(P.A.)
