BIG FIRE IN JAMAICA
Famous Hotel Damaged t JV.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Coppriphti KINGSTON (Jamaica). Feb. 28. Fire last night severely damaged the famous Myrtle Bank Hotel where Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh were to attend a ball. next Friday. The hotel was evacuated after the fire started in an upper floor room. Firemen were assisted by sailors from American destroyers as they fought the blaze. The hotel, built 92 years ago, was to have been the press centre for the Commonwealth Games next August. Damage is expected to run into hundreds of thousands of pounds.
