TROTTING OUTCLASSED CUP FIELD

Robin Dundee Wins By Five Lengths

Robin Dundee received some small compensation for defeat in the Inter-Dominion Championship Grand Final and the Wellington Cup when she outfinished the field in the Jubilee Handicap at Hutt Park last night.

* She revelled in the sloppy track conditions and after giving the pacemaker, Gipsy Hanover, a start of about five lengths racing to the straight, she gathered in that runner with ease and won with a lot in hand by five lengths. She received a rousing ovation as she passed the post and again when M. Holmes paraded her in front of the stands. Plans for Robin Dundee’s future racing are not certain but she is certain to contest the Easter Cup at Addington next month. Easy Pace Set Gipsy Hanover set an easy pace from Bellajily, with Full Sovereign moving up on the outside in the middle stages. Robin Dundee was five places back on the inside and she became awkwardly placed racing to the straight. At that stage Gipsy Hanover led by two lengths from Bellajily, with another two lengths to Admit and Full Sovereign. Waitaki Hanover and Robin Dundee were next An opening came along the inside and Robin Dundee quickly seized it.

She had the result in safe keeping 100 yards from the finish. Gipsy Hanover battled on well for second, with Bobbinet making ground for third a little more than a length away. Bellajily was another length away fourth, clear of Pancho Boy. Admit. Cloudy Bay, and Junior Royal. Junior Royal and Happy

Ending broke badly at the start while Friendly Persuasion and Cloudy Bay were slow. Easy Win Chief Assault saved supporters of his more favoured stablemate. Supersede, when he gained an easy win in the Borough Handicap. He trailed Don’t until that runner broke with just over three furlongs left and from then on was always trotting comfortably. He won easing up by almost

three lengths from Frisky, which was never further back than fourth. Five lengths further back Big Charge battled on for third, clear of Sure Bill, Dancing Ways, and Peterborough. The favourite, Mystique, broke after about a furlong and finished last. Made Amends Camlin, which was knocked down in her race on Saturday night made amends when she shaded Angel Lass in the Fitzherbert Handicap. Camlin was always well placed, but Angel Lass lost a few lengths at the start. Blue Pin received the run of the race and finished third a length away, just ahead of Nocatchem and Ulight. Foaming Lass forced most of the pace, but stopped badly and finished seventh. Outclassed Field Abbey Frost gained a long overdue win when he outclassed the field in the Foster Handicap, the second leg of the on-course double. He got away well from a wide barrier position and was soon handily placed. The pacemaker. Chief Smile, drifted out at the turn and Abbey Frost came through to win by two lengths and a half from Unreal, which had been in second place most of the way. Chief Smile tired to third, just ahead of Set Sail, with four lengths to Genstar and a long gap to Safe Flight. The Chief Assault-Abbey Frost double paid £25 6s for £l.
