SURFACE OF MOON
Analysis By Russians
(N.ZP.A.-Reuter—Copyright) MOSCOW, Feb. 27. The moon’s surface is covered with a layer of porous but solid matter 20ft to 33ft thick and similar in structure to artificial foam materials, the Tass News Agency reported. Research by a team of Soviet scientists at Gorky showed that this substance, which the scientists called lunite, is not to be found on the earth. It is composed of volcanic ash and slag, tuff, pumice, and meteoric matter, has low thermal conductivity, and has a density close to that of water.
