Record Catch
Before the England wicketkeeper, J. M. Parks, took off his pads to bowl in the first test yesterday afternoon, he had equalled England’s test record of eight dismissals in a match, and equalled the world test record of eight catches in a match. Parks took three catches in New Zealand’s second innings, five in the first. L. E. G. Ames effected eight dismissals (six caught and two stumped) against the. West Indies in 1933. In setting his world record of nine dismissals in a test innings, G. R. Langley caught eight batsmen, for Australia against England in 1956. Others who have made
eight catches in a match arc J. J. Kelly (Australia) against England in 1901-02, Langley, : against the West Indies in ■ 1954-55, and A. T. W. Grout (Australia), against England ■ in 1961.
