“NO RACIALISM”
The New Zealand Cricket Council would adhere to its policy of including any players good enough to be selected for any tour, including South Africa, said the chairman of the council's board of control. Mr J. G. Leggat, yesterday. He made this statement in reply to a question whether the council might face the same problems as the New Zealand Rugby Union in accepting some future tour of South Africa. At the moment, said Mr
Leggat the question was academic for under the present international programme it was unlikely that either side would undertake a tour for some years. “We would consider any invitation according to its terms. We have never had any restrictions placed on any invitation to tour South Africa. “We have always made it plain that we will play anyone who wants to play cricket and will include in our teams anyone good enough to be selected,” he said.
