Gibraltar Talks
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, March 1.
Spain and Britain have agreed to hold talks in London in April about Gibraltar, which is claimed by Spain.
Britain does not accept the Spanish claim to her colony. Mr Michael Stewart, the British Foreign Secretary, told Parliament yesterday that he thought it was right for Britain to take account of a United Nations General Assembly resolution of December 16 last calling for talks without delay. Mr Stewart said the British Government’s object was the removal of frontier restrictions between Spain and Gibraltar.
Britain has alleged that Spain has carried out a virtual economic blockade against Gibraltar by the halting of border traffic.
