U.S. TRADE GROUP

Visitors From Buffalo

“We've found things that are interesting, but nothing that you could call dramatic,” said Mr I. G. Ross, president of the Buffalo Area Chamber of Commerce, when he brought his 16-man trade mission to Christchurch. Mr Ross said the group was not making any great effort to buy or sell in New Zealand, but members were keeping a watch for any good opportunities.

“It’s a pretty casual thing,” he said. “It’s a real relaxed sort of visit—a mixture of trade mission and tourism. We’ve done this for the last 10 or 11 years, and we’ve been to Russia, South America, Greece, Portugal, Spain and places like that.

“The members are all different kinds of businessmen and we’re meeting people of our own type here and in Australia. We’ve been to Auckland and Wellington, and plan to spend nine or 10 days in New Zealand altogether.” The group, which includes wives of the chamber of commerce members, numbers 35.
