Lyttelton C.W.I.
The Lyttelton Country Women’s Institute celebrated its ninth birthday recently, when the president (Mrs C. O'Donovan) welcomed specially invited guests. They included the Mayoress of Lyttelton (Mrs B. Collett), Mrs C. D. Newton, a Dominion executive member of C.WI; Mrs G. E. McLachlan, president of the Canterbury federation; Mesdames E. Holmes and H. Litolff, Christchurch group and federation executive members: and the group’s adopted patient Items were given by Mesdames I. Cooper and M. Winder and the drama group. Mrs McLachlan presented trophies won tar annual competitions as follows: Most points, Mrs E. Moss: best bloom. Mrs M. Duckworth; decorative section, Mrs M. Duckworth; most points in cooking, Mrs R. Loader; most points in handwork. Mrs M. Stenson
Cup For Rally Presented.— The .Alliance Francaise cup, t for most points in the recent French car rally to Akaroa, was presented tn Miss A. Just at the February meeting of the alliance. Sectional Prizes were presented tn Misses D. Candy and A. Just, Messrs E. Jones and R. Pfenmger.
