CONCRETE FALLS
(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Feb. 10. An estimated 80 cubic yards of freshly-poured concrete and reinforcing on the first floor of the Auckland Hospital new acute block crashed to the ground just after noon today. Four and a half bays of floor level collapsed when supports and braces gave way. Nobody was hurt. The incident occurred just after the hooter sounded lunch and men left the job. About a dozen carpenters, steel workers and labourers had been working there during the morning, an eye-’ itness estimated. The £6.5 million project was on time until today’s incident. Stage I of the building was planned to be completed by - early 1969.
