Magistrate's Court Dangerous Speed Costs Youth £10 And Licence

A fine of £lO, with cancellation of his driving licence for three years, was imposed on Robert Cameron Young, aged 17, a warehouseman, when he was convicted of driving at a dangerous speed by Mr E. S. J. Crutchley, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court yesterday. Young pleaded guilty by letter. Traffic Officer L. B. Bolton said he saw Young travelling in Blenheim road at a speed about 50 to 55 miles an hour on November 11. Young turned into Annex road, negotiated S bends at about 50 miles an hour, and accelerated to 70 miles an hour towards Sunnyside Hospital. He passed four children on bicycles at this speed and slowed to 60 miles an hour for a bend. When stopped Young said he thought he was only travelling 40 miles an hour. He was trying to get to a barber before closing time. He was using his father’s car. STOLE MONEY Richard Keith Young, aged 22. a driver-salesman, charged with theft of £3 16s from his employer. Quill, Morris. Cowles, Ltd., on February 7, was convicted and remanded on bail to February 17 for sentence. He pleaded guilty. Senior-Sergeant G. M.
