Thai P.M’s Itinerary
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Feb. 9. Details of the sixday state visit to New Zealand by the Prime Minister of Thailand, Field Marshal Thanom Kittikachorn, were announced tonight by the Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake). Field Marshal Thanom will arrive in Wellington on February 17 and visit Palmerston North, Wanganui, Chateau Tongariro. Wairakei, Rotorua, and Auckland. The Thai Prime Minister will be accompanied by two Thai Cabinet Ministers, Mr Thanat Khoman and Mr Pote Sarasin. The following day Field Marshal Thanom’s formal engagements include calls on the Prime Minister, the
Leader of the Opposition (Mr Kirk), the Mayor of Wellington (Sir Francis Kitts), and Cabinet Ministers. He will lay a wreath on the Citizens’ War Memorial and later attend a State dinner. Separate arrangements have been made in Wellington for Field Marshal Thanom’s wife, Thanpuying Chongko! Kittikachorn. On the Saturday Field Marshal Thanom will visit Massey University at Palmerston North and will attend a Maori entertainment at Wanganui Memorial Hall. He will spend Sunday at the Chateau Tongariro. Field Marshal Thanom will visit the Tongariro hydroelectric scheme information centre at Turangi on Monday, February 21. He will later inspect the Wairakei geothermal area and the Whakarewarewa reserve, and will later fly to Auckland.
On February 22 the Thai . Prime Minister will attend a . mayoral reception at the Auckland Town Hall. Later he will visit the Devonport i naval base and the Forest I Products factory at Penrose. Field Marshal Thanom and his wife and party will leave Auckland airport for Sydney > on Wednesday, February 23. r In addition to Mr Thanat , Khoman (Minister of Foreign - Affairs) and Mr Pote Sarasin (Minister of National Devel- - opment), the party accomr panying Field Marshal Thai nom includes Khunying Swai i Charusathira (wife of the 1 Deputy-Prime Minister), Lieu-tenant-General Swaeing Senat narong (Deputy Chief of Staff, National Security Com--1 mand), and Mr Thitinant Na - Ranong (Acting-Director-i General of the Protocol De- , partment. Ministry of Foreign r Affairs). In attendance to the visi- - tors will be the New Zealand 1 Minister of Defence (Mr Eyre) and Mrs Eyre.
