RULING RATES
Survey In 8 Centres
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Feb. 9. This year’s ruling rates survey would be held for the pay week ended February 11, 1966, in eight urban centres, a Department of Labour official said today. The survey, conducted by the department in terms of the 1962 States Services legislation, is made to compare the average rates paid in Government employment with those in private industry. The survey will be in Auckland, Hamilton, Wanganui, Hutt, Wellington, Christchurch, Dunedin and Invercargill. The first of the completed survey forms are expected to arrive in the department’s head office next week. Tabulated results will then be sent, probably by the middle of March, to S tate Services organisations and to the Government as the basis for negotiations. As a result of last February’s survey increases were granted to tradesmen, labourers and clerical and allied workers.
