Companies

Sir, —I have recently read .an advertisement that states -that a “ready-made” company can be purchased for £25. As I have had reason Ito form a company of my !own in the past and it cost line almost treble this iamount 1 would like to know if it is a genuine offer. My actual knowledge of company formation is sketchy but I have been led to believe that fees alone can exceed this amount. If this is a bona fide offer it would be a great help to small businesses which wish to convert to companies, but I personally feel that I would like to know a lot more about it first. —Yours, etc., WONDERING. February 7, 1966. [The District Registrar of Companies (Mr L. .Esterman) replies: “The idea of ‘readymade’ companies is novel in New Zealand but not in England. An organisation formed in Christchurch last year offers this class of company for sale ‘off the shelf’ and the advertisement would contain a genuine offer. Initial registration and licence fees on a £2OOO company are £l5, increasing by scale to £lB 10s on a £5OOO company.”]
