STILL WANT THAI BABY
Couple Going To Eire (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Jan. 31. An Auckland couple who want to adopt a seven-month-old baby from a Thailand orphanage have decided to leave New Zealand and settle in Eire rather than continue to battle with immigration authorities to get the child admitted to New Zealand.
The couple, Mr and Mrs J. Hartley, of Milford, have been verbally granted a temporary permit to bring the baby to New Zealand for six months. They will leave for Europe on October 22. “We would have preferred to stay in New Zealand," Mr Hartley said today. “Although I was born in England I have •lived here for 25 years and have always regarded New Zealand as my home. But we are fed up with the Government’s policy on Asian adoptions.”
