SOUTHLANDER BUYS SCARGILL PROPERTY
r THE sale of Lilburn, a graz--1 ing property of 625 acres freehold and 1958 acres, leasehold at Scargill, was reported by the land department of Pyne, Gould, Guinness Ltd. this week. The vendor was Mr A. McL. Stewart, and the purchaser, a fanner from Southland. The price was not disclosed. Lilburn has been in the hands of the Stewart family since 1891, and at the time of sale was carrying 280 C sheep and 75 head of cattle. The freehold property, situated within 200 yards of
Scargill township and railway station, is grazing land, with a proportion of rolling downs, terraces and flats. The homestead comprises six main rooms. There is also a new three-bedroom house of concrete block construction. The outbuildings include a three-stand woolshed capable of holding 800 sheep. The leasehold block, situated five miles from Scargill, consists of low, tussock sur-face-sown hills, subdivided into four blocks, with about 30 acres of it arable.
