FLUORIDE IN WATER
“Fruitless” Protest (N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, Jan. 28. The- Manukau City Council’s deputation on fluoridation to the Auckland Regional Authority had been fruitless, said the Deputy-Mayor (Mr C. Mountfort) at a council meeting last night. “They showed us that, come rain or shine, some members of the authority are determined to introduce compulsory fluoridation,” he said. The council sent a deputation to ask for deferment of compulsory fluoridation until a referedum had been held. “Their decision to fluoridate water has met with dismay and anger in the Manukau city area,” said Mr fortHe moved that the council voice its strong objection to the' move, but the motion was defeated by eight votes to seven.
