N.Z. Artists Featured
Production began last week in Rotorua on a film which will feature several New Zealand and Australian light entertainment artists. A comedy musical called “Don’t Let It Get You!”, the film Is being made by Pacific Films. Some sequences will be filmed in Auckland and Sydney The stars are Howard Morrison and Gary Wallace, and among the artists are Ray Columbus, Rim D. Paul and the Quin Tikis, Kiri Te Kanawa, John Hore, Lew Pryme, Henna Keil, Jerry Merito, Peter Posa, Gwynne Owen, Eliza Keil and the Maori Hakas. From Australia, Tanya Binning will make a guest appearance. Negotiations are in progress with a Sydney actress, Carmen Duncan, for the female lead.
Fourteen songs have been written by Patrick Flynn, with lyrics by Joseph Musaphia, who has also written the screenplay. “Don’t Let It Get You!” is being produced by John O’Shea, with Anthony Williams, a recent Arts Council fellowship winner, as director of photography, and Russell Rankin as associate producer.
The film will be released in Australia and New Zealand in the middle of the year.
