N.Z. FRUIT IN U.K.
Praise Of Quality ' (Special Crspdt. N.Z.P.A.) LONDON, Jan. 27. There was “still room” for New Zealand fruit in Britain’s expanding home market, said the British Minister of Agriculture, Mr Peart, at the annual livery dinner of the Friuterers’ Company held at the Merchant Tailors’ Hall, London. “In any assessment of food policy the , British Government never forgets the loyalty of New Zealand over a long period and in our trading relations this is recognised,” he added.
He went on to compliment New Zealand growers on the packaging and delivery of their quality fruit and the new development in air-freighting soft fruits. New Zealand’s High Commissioner in London, Sir Thomas Macdonald, who was guest of honour at the dinner, later proposed the toast of the company, emphasising the long and strong relationship of the New Zealand fruit trade with Britain.
