‘Miss World ' To Promote Wool
(Special Correspondent N.Z.P.A.)
LONDON, Jan. 19.
Miss Lesley Langley, the 1966 “Miss World,” has signed a contract to promote a new type of wool throughout Britain.
The new wool, which will be on sale next month, will be non-shrinkable. It will be called “Wonderwool” and will carry the woolmark of the International Wool Secretariat.
The contract is Miss Langley’s first since she became “Miss World” last November and continues the association with wool, first established by the 1965 ’211158 World” (Miss Ann Sidney). A year’s research has gone into producing the scientific process to make the wool un-
shrinkable. It is added at the dyeing stage. The market for hand knitting wools, including those with a percentage of manmade fibres, is estimated at £4O million. There are about 20 million hand knitters in Britain.
