C.B.E AWARD
Former Chch. Resident Mr H. McNeil, formerly of Christchurch and now managing-director of a large engineering firm in Liverpool, received the C.B.E. in the New Year honours list Mr McNeil came from Southland and completed his schooling at Christchurch Boys’ High School before going to Canterbury University College, where he gained his B.E. degree. He went to Britain in 1931 and worked in several engineering firms until 1933 when he joined the Liverpool boilermaking firm of Babcock and Wilcox. He has been
managing-director for, about eight years and is a director -of several other companies, including the National Bank of New Zealand.
