Centurion’s Tomb Found

(N.Z.P.A. 'Reuter—Copyright) ROME. Workmen digging the foundations for a new factory at Modena discovered a heavy marble flagstone which they later found to be the base of a patrician tomb. Above it was a large alabaster block, bearing two bas reliefs representing persons with commanders’ insignias. The inscriptions have led to the belief that the remains found inside the tomb are those of a Roman centurion, Marco Numisio, and his ■companion, Quito Velucio, who died either in the last years of the republic or the first ten years of the empire.
