70 Enter Kaiapoi’s Sunday Regatta
More than 70 entries from Canterbury’s rowing clubs have been received for the 16event regatta to be held tomorrow at Kaiapoi by the Cure Boating Club.
This is the second Kaiapoi regatta this season and replaces the Akaroa Regatta which will not be held this season. Timaru Rowing Club has again entered. It is hoped they will get on the water this time. As no Timaru crews arrived for the last regatta, tomorrow will be the first time this season that local clubs can test themselves against Timaru.
Crews will do their utmost tomorrow as the Christchurch Regatta will be held next week-end and oarsmen need some stiff competition. The main interest will centre on the senior fours, which has drawn entries from Avon, Union, Canterbury and Timaru. The Canterbury Legion of Old Oarsmen is sponsoring a cup to go to the club with the I highest over-all points.
