Airline’s First Travel Adviser In N.Z.
After seven years with Qantas, Miss Elaine Nankervis. of Wellington, has been appointed the airline’s first women’s travel adviser in New Zealand. Miss Nankervis joins a team of three women employed to help and advise women air travellers. Heading the team is Miss Elizabeth Hunter, the airline's chief women’s travel consultant, who is stationed in Sydney but covers the international network of the company. Miss Mavis Reynolds covers New South Wales and Miss Robina Gubbins is in Melbourne. Miss Nankervis will be stationed in Auckland. but will travel throughout New Zealand. When she joined the airline in 1959, Miss Nankervis was secretary to the district sales manager in Wellington. After a training course in Sydney she became booking officer in the Wellington office. In 1963 she was sec-
onded to the Landon office to help during the busy period from May to July, but stayed much longer. After working in the airline’s booking office in Australia House in London, Miss Nankervis opened a booking booth in the foyer of the London Hilton Hotel where she worked from July, 1964. until the end of 1965. This international experience and extensive air travel gives Miss Nankervis an excellent background for her new job. Miss Nankervis will advise women passengers on travel wardrobes, packing, climates, how to travel with babies, and the special services the airline provides for babies during flight, and will give talks to women’s groups and dubs.
