TOOK TIME HONOURS

Plantation At Awapuni “The Press” Special Service PALMERSTON NORTH. Plantation and the visiting horses, Trossach and Straight Irish, took the time honours at Awapuni yesterday in final trials for the Pahiatua Racing Club’s meeting which opens in Palmerston North tomorrow. On the course proper Plantation impressed over half a mile with Serena in 50 3-ssec, the last three in 37 3-ssec. Plantation worked in his best style and will be hard to beat in the Booth’s Gin Handicap. Trossach ran the best six furlongs of the morning— Imin 18sec, the last three in 38 l-ssec. He galloped well but his form in the cup hardly inspires much confidence. Straight Irish worked well with Pizzicato over six furlongs in lmin 19 1-5, the last three in 39 l-ssec. Straight Irish ran a good race at Stratford on Tuesday and in spite of his years he might not be out of it in the Pahiatua Cup.
