Police Were Prepared
(N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN, Jan. 6. Fourteen members of Dunedin’s armed offenders squad raced to Benhar, near Balclutha, at 10.30 this morning to investigate reports that youths had gone beserk in a wild shooting incident. the <rther 10. surrendered before a menacing array of police weapons. They admitted letting off crackers. Last night police had investigated reports that shots had been fired in the vicinity of the single men’s camp at Benhar, but had been unable to confirm them. Rumours spread among residents that some youths had gone beserk with rifles.
