COWON MARKET
Necessity Of U.K. Joining (N Z P A.-Reuter —Copy right) LONDON. Jan. 4. The Western alliance could only endure if Britain joined the Common Market, Lord Giadwyn, former Ambassador to Paris, said in Oxford. Britain must abandon the illusion that it was an economic world power and grasp the fact that it could only recover its influence and world power by associating “these small islands” with a vast trading bloc, he said. Lord Giadwyn told an Oxford farming conference that if the Common Market endured it would emerge as a political entity in its own right.
