“Vatican Likely To Ban Pill”

(N.Z. Press Association —Copyright) SYDNEY, January 4. Pope Paul will almost certainly reject use of the pill, a prominent Roman Catholic theologian claimed in Sj’dney today, the Sydney “Sun” reported.

The theologian, who was not identified, today received from Rome a 30,000-word document promulgated by Pope Paul. It is the Latin text of the Vatican Council pastoral constitution, which has been eagerly awaited by priests throughout the world. “How anyone can think the Catholic Church could change its attitude on contraception in general is beyond my comprehension after reading Pope Pius's encyclical on marriage,” he said. “No Doubt" “This document I have just received leaves no doubt in my mind as to the richness of the analysis of responsible parenthood in marriage that Pope Paul will soon issue,” the theologian said. “The Pope's analysis will be within the rich context of thought packed into a document entitled ‘Promoting the Dignity of Matrimony in the Family'.” The document states:

'There are those who presume to offer immoral solutions to these problems—they do not even shrink from inflicting death. A Reminder “But the Church reminds everybody that there is no possibility of a contradiction between the divine laws governing the transmission of life and governing the development of genuine married love.” The document adds that abortion and infanticides are “unspeakable crimes.” This was "because the Lord of Life has committed to man the most noble function of the preservation of life to be carried out in a manner worthy of man.”
