A six-man gang beat the world record of approximately 2000 by shearing 2133 sheep in a nine-hour day on Mr P. Murphy’s Panikau station. Whangara, on the East Coast today. Starting at 5 a.m. the gang shore 1660 and 473 hoggets carrying eight months’ wool up to 5 p.m. The 85 degrees temperature in Gisborne was tempered by a breeze at Panikau, but two of the shearers affected by cramp had to stand down in the afternoon The individual tallies were.
