Rag Doll Hurts Hind Leg

The well-performed Hastings filly. Rag Doll, a visitor to Ellerslie for the Auckland summer meeting, had injured a hind leg and might have to be rested for the rest of the season. She will not compete again at the Ellerslie cup carnival.
Old and Bold, an early cup favourite, has been spelled after his poor showing in the Summer Cup on Wednesday, his owner, Sir Woolf Fisher, and trainer, R. L. Collett, decided that Old and Bold was below form.
The team brought north by the Woodville trainer, E. Ropiha, for the Auckland meeting has been taken home. They include Arakhan, which has a filled tendon and seems unlikely to race for a long time. The others are Dervish and Summer Flight. Apa (Reggett) rounded off his preparation for the cup by running six furlongs solidly on the No. 1 grass at Ellerslie yesterday morning, with Awaroa (Dowling). They ran their last four furlongs brilliantly in 47sec. The Great Northern Foal Stakes favourite. Prince d’Amour (Taylor) strode effortlessly over half a mile in 49$ec. Might, a stablemate which is in the King’s Plate tomorrow, returned 48 l-ssec.
