New Year’s Day Game
Tomorrow will be a big day for gridiron fans at McMurdo Station. A match is to be played between teams from the United States Navy and civilians of the United States Antarctic Research Pro.gramme
Teams have been in serious training for more than a month, and the final training runs were held last Wednesday.
An area of ice has been levelled, staked out, and goalposts erected. United Press International will give an international coverage of the game, using the “ham” radio hook-up.
