Well, Sir, between Us we’ve seen quite a Few New Years in, and as Many old Years out; Indeed, we’ve seen quite a Number of Decades through; But whether we’re any the wiser is open to Doubt.

The slippery Sixties have passed the middle Point— A Point which We may note in Passing, so to speak. The Time (as Hamlet morosely remarked) is out of Joint, But it still limps along, Day by Day Week by Week.

My private Prognosis or Forecast for the coming Year, Is as reliable as any Expert’s, local or Overseas. More Bloodshed, more Misery in Asia, I very much

fear, And Peace, if any, by agonisingly slow Degrees

In Darkest Africa, my white-skinned Friends

insist The whole World’s mad, They alone are sane! Sir, if Smith's right, I need a Psychiatrist— We’ll know before New Year’s Day comes round again.

We’ll be seeing the local Heavyweight Champion ship, Challenger Kirk on my left, Kiwi Keith on my Right. There’ll be Thunder and Lightning when those Heroes strip, This Year of Destiny, Year of the Great Fight!
