Retiring Cheque To Red Cross
An employee of Crown, Crystal and Glass, Ltd., has donated the cheque he received from fellow workers on his retirement to the North Canterbury branch of the Red Cross. It is the first time such a donation has been made, and the money will go towards the South-east Asia Training fund. The fund will assist the training of Red Cross staff to serve overseas and to establish the organisation in developing countries.
The cheque was presented to the branch chairman (Mr E. W. Reeves )at a function yesterday morning.
